How to develop self-awareness in the workplace
Be aware of your attitude, behaviors, characteristics.
Acknowledge your work ethic.
Learn from your experiences.
Embrace your humanness and learn from mistakes and failures.
Know what motivates you.
Know what triggers you to feel anxious, angry, or defensive.
Acknowledge what allows you to work effectively (be in a quiet area or use noise-canceling headphones, perform difficult tasks in the morning when you’re more alert, etc.)
Practice coping mechanisms to react to situations rationally and willfully.
Ask others for feedback and use it as helpful suggestions for growth.
Take time to evaluate yourself.
Other: Share other ways you can develop self-awareness in the workplace.
Between now and the next time we meet take time to reflect on and/or apply these methods and write in a journal the outcomes from your gained awareness and actions taken. Be prepared to share your takeaway from this exercise.
